You’ve worked hard to earn your PhD. But when you choose a career in industry, no one shows you how to make your degree work for you.

I'm here to change that!

(If you know, you know.)

I’m a Bioengineering PhD scientist working in biotech, and a career coach for women STEM PhDs working in industry.

I created Elevate PhD Coaching because navigating your post-PhD career in industry isn’t straightforward — and we don’t talk about it enough.

STEM PhDs struggle in industry not because they lack intelligence or work ethic. It’s because they were never taught how industry really works — let alone how to succeed in it.

And if you’re a woman PhD scientist — that’s on top of challenges we uniquely experience in male-dominated fields.

Hey, I'm Sherine!

And the rulebook? Nowhere to be found.

You don’t know what to change, who to ask, or whether the people who do know would actually be honest with you.

I know what it’s like to (finally) earn your PhD, start working in industry, and discover the rules have changed.

This is the heart of everything I do!

I teach you how to go from being stuck and undervalued to intentionally building the post-PhD career that you want — instead of waiting for your career to happen to you.

what i'm here to do

I'm here to walk you through this!

You don't have to do this alone!

I can't wait to work with you!

I built Elevate PhD Coaching to be what I wish I’d had when I was finding my footing in industry.

I know the doubts and tendencies that creep in when you’re the only female scientist in the room.

My career journey

I graduated with a PhD in Bioengineering in 2019 and landed my first job with a biotech startup shortly after defending.

Graduation

I was confident in my scientific abilities, but I wasn’t prepared for how challenging the transition from academia to industry would be.

During my first job, I did everything that helped me succeed in academia. I planned detailed experiments, pored through scientific literature, and put in long hours at work.

My first job

Despite my efforts, I watched my coworkers — including some who didn’t have advanced degrees — get rewarded and promoted ahead of me. My confidence tanked. In those dark moments, I wondered if my PhD was a complete waste.

Looking back, I realized that everything I did served me well for the academic setting — but it wasn’t what industry wanted from me. I had no clue what to do differently.

Looking back

she has no clue what's coming...

It was a dream come true

I’ve worked in both small start-up and large corporate environments. I’ve been in novel research and product development teams (and yes — they’re different).

I’ve been recognized for my work as an individual contributor and as a team lead on a large-scale technical project.

Career Path

Fast-forward to now — I’m in my 6th year working in industry and helping other women navigate their post-PhD careers.

Today

now I'm passing on what I've learned!
